Today I queued up a lot of stuff in Newsbin, and it started using a lot of CPU time and downloading slower than normal. Thanks to the developer, Quade, for providing the solution – I disabled my ISPs news server which was constantly checking the entire queue for work. Since they don’t carry many groups and have a rather pathetic retention time anyway, nothing was actually downloading from them anyway.
